God is Bigger than… Everything!
This has been a very tough year for everyone. We have faced a global pandemic that threatens lives and health, as well as jobs and economies. We have had to adjust our lifestyles and decisions—wearing masks and avoiding big gatherings—because we care about our family near us and people around us. We have grown impatient and frustrated during times when we could not leave our homes, and work at home and school at home have stretched families.
In addition, I have experienced a pattern of health issues. In October my heart’s electrical system stopped working as needed, causing the heart to pause and then restart after a period of 10-25 seconds after each event. I now have a new pacemaker implant to prevent repeated episodes. In the spring, a MRI scan found some spots that require watching. This past month, I went to the Mayo Clinic for a consultation with a neurologist. This raised questions which call for me to watch and wait to see what the future holds. I continue my work with Wycliffe, but am daily wondering why I feel so fatigued.
It is so true that waiting and watching are hard in the absence of clear answers. But instead of worrying, we have a much better option–to lift our gaze above our problems; to look to the Lord who loves us so perfectly; and to confidently wait and see how His love will unfold in our lives. Then repeat this as often as necessary.
So I wait with you to see how COVID will impact our world in the upcoming months. I wait for November elections to see what will happen. And I wait for answers to health questions. But we are able to trust God each day, because He is BIGGER, GREATER, BETTER, and STRONGER than anything the world throws at us.
God’s promise has not changed from ancient times:Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of these things, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
With that in mind, have a blessed day!
